Wisdom of Karma and Kindness

Wisdom of Karma and Kindness
We live
in a world of mirrors, we see ourselves everywhere. We read our own minds
everywhere. If we are bad we think the whole world is bad, if we are good we
think the whole world is good. If we are saintly we think all are angels, if we
are sensuous, we think everything is an object of sense-pleasure. If there is
God in our heart, we see everywhere God, no matter whether the person is good or
bad or wicked or saintly. We see everywhere what is in ourselves, therefore
always put in yourself God so that you may behold God everywhere.
A man
of love does not say, “There is no love in the world”; what others are does not
matter, what you are alone matters. Even if the whole world is full of saints,
you shall never experience it unless saintliness is in your heart. Though the
whole world is full of God you do not experience it, unless you put God also in
your heart.
When
you are depressed and miserable, the whole world looks depressed and miserable.
Nothing interests you. Everything annoys you. Even a smiling face of somebody
disturbs you. Therefore what you are in your heart alone matters. Whether it is
night or day, whether everything around is good or bad, you will see the blazing
Light of God if you have God in your heart. Therefore always put God in your
heart, and then you will see that you find everywhere Peace, Joy, Perfection,
Power, Grace, Light.
We live
in a world of echoes. What is happening in your heart is heard back around the
world. Say ‘Om’, and Om will be echoed back to you. Call somebody a fool, and
you are bound to see that during your life ten others will call you a fool. Call
anyone angelic, you will see during your life at least ten persons will call you
angelic. You are living in a world of echoes, what you put into the world you
get back. Shout a wrong word, during your life the same wrong word will be
shouted back to you many times. Repeat the Mantra, the same will protect you in
times of greatest danger and difficulties.
Therefore charge the clouds with the Mantra-repetition, then after several
months, when they return, they will return back with the Mantra-repetition.
Charge
the trees with Mantra-repetition, when they produce new leaves through the new
leaves will be heard the Mantra-sound.
Charge
the earth with the Mantra-repetition, the earth will echo it back to you. Charge
yourself with Mantra-repetition, and even in dreams you will be forced to repeat
the Mantra. It comes back to you.
Charge
the wind with Mantra-repetition, when it blows back after several months or
days, it will again bring back to you the Mantra-repetition.
You are
responsible for your destiny, the world is neither really good nor bad, it is as
good or as bad as you are yourself. The world has neither God in it nor any
beauty in it, but if there is God in you and beauty in you, the world is full of
God and Beauty.
There
may be light everywhere. The blind man will continue to complain that there is
no light. What is the use of light being all over the world when the blind man
does not experience it? What is the use of God being everywhere in the world,
yet not being experienced by you? So, you are all-important, you are responsible
for your destiny, for your experiences, for your happiness or unhappiness.
Therefore try to put the highest thoughts of the Divine in you, and you will see
the whole life changing around those thoughts.
So, we
are responsible for everything. We are living in a world of echoes and mirrors.
Everything is a reflection of what we are in ourselves.
What
does it matter to a Sage who is rooted in the Truth-experience if the world is
or is not, whether it is pleasurable or painful, whether it is protected or
destroyed? The outer things are of no consequence, what we are is everything.
And therefore always put the Divine in the heart and you will see the magic:
everywhere perfection will be visible, and your outer life will be in harmony
with Beauty, Order, Prosperity, Abundance, Grace, Peace, Light.
Bless
everything and you will be blessed back by everything.
Everything will live longer if you bless everything. Everything serves you
better if you bless everything. Carry a blessing heart, nothing will break
around you, everything will be reconstructed, renewed, and rendered
ever-beautiful.
So,
constantly carry a blessing heart and a mind illuminated by divine Knowledge.
Let the fire and force of Mantra be constantly burning behind in the background.
Karma
and Transcendent Grace
The
Nature of the Divine is boundless love and light, it is boundless beauty and
happiness. It is boundless freedom and perfection. It has nothing to do with
your bodily conditions and your fortunes and misfortunes of life. Your bodily
conditions and fortunes and misfortunes of life are made by you, – your
thoughts, feelings, actions. These have nothing to do with the boundless Love,
Light, Grace, Freedom of God. These are only your creations, the creations of
your thoughts, feelings, actions. What we have done comes back to us in one form
or the other. Doing good or bad and getting a corresponding result has nothing
to do with the Nature of God. But those who know God, feel God, experience God
are spared from 75 to 80% of Karma.
So, try
to lift up your consciousness and focus it intensely on the infinite divine
Presence, the Light, Love, Grace, Peace, Joy, Freedom, Perfection of the Divine.
Think
not of the body, harm not others, insult nobody, criticize nobody, injure
nobody, entertain no wrong thoughts in relation to others. If you make someone
cry, nature makes us cry three times. If you make someone happy and smiling,
nature makes us ten times happy. This is law, this is unavoidable, this you are
doing every minute, every second. Your mind is never at peace or stillness or
silence. It is always active. For every action there is a reaction.
Supposing you are eating. Suddenly the thought comes, “Oh, that enemy of mine
how wonderful it would be if he is punished.” It is a thought, and it has a
reaction one day, and when the reaction comes you do not know from where it has
come, how it has come, and you think it is an accident. Above this law of action
and reaction there is the infinite unlimited Love, Peace, Joy, Power and Grace
of the Divine. The wise persons, in order to escape this action-and-reaction
chain, try to offer everything that they think, feel, do to God, so that the
reactions of all these belong to God and not to himself; and since God is
infinite Perfection, God at once dissolves these reactions.
So, a
wise person, a truly spiritual person, a saint is one in whom there are no more
reactions. He may do many good works, yet he knows, asserts that it is God who
has done them, and therefore the reaction goes to God and not to himself. Since
God is all-perfect, He dissolves this reaction.
Understanding this Truth, “God is unlimited Light, Love, Grace, Beauty,
Freedom”, stand above the chain of action and reaction, hate nobody, dislike
nobody, criticize nobody, bring tears to the eyes of nobody. On the other hand,
go on increasing your good Karma by making others smile. Having made others
smile do not expect rewards for your service. Having made others smile at once
offer that act of kind service to the Divine, and the Divine will bless you with
more illumination and free you from the chain of action and reaction. And when
you have illumination, your heart is always happy in all conditions, whatever
may be the circumstances.
The
Joy of the Heart
The
true spiritual aspirant has a heart which is always filled with delight.
When a
dog which has many pups returns home after two hours of wandering abroad, the
pups begin to wag their tails, feel delight. In the same condition is the heart
of the spiritual aspirant in relation to the Divine whose Presence is always
felt by the spiritual heart. It is a heart that is constantly dwelling in the
domains of peace and strength and light. If this is not the state of your heart,
it may be very difficult to call you a spiritual aspirant.
There
is no bad or evil or unhappiness outside. It is all a creation of oneself. What
there is outside and inside is only a boundless sea of Light, Joy, Beauty,
creative Consciousness, Perfection, Happiness.
If
unhappiness or badness of other persons is a reality, a universal reality,
something that subsists independent of you, then it should be experienced by all
equally, but it is not experienced by all equally. The child does not know it is
living amidst bad people whose vibrations are bad for it. It is always smiling.
It doesn’t matter whether the persons around are good or bad, it lives in its
own world of happiness.
So the
happiness or unhappiness of a person rests entirely upon oneself.
Supposing there is hot sunshine. We feel it, the child also feels it. We feel
it, it has an outer reality, everyone feels it; no matter whether one is a child
or a grown-up person. When it rains it drenches us as much as it drenches the
child, it is an external fact. Whereas happiness is not an external fact. The
bad of others is not an external fact.
The spiritual heart constantly experiences the wondrous, marvellous, dominating,
overpowering Presence of the Divine. It is not affected by outer conditions.
Your
Actions or Fruits Show What You Are
Only by
doing uncompromisingly that which is divine, we can grow.
You are
the best judge whether or not you are pure and chosen by God. Your actions will
show, the workings of your heart will show, the thoughts in your mind will show.
We are
judged by our actions. If our actions are good, divine, pure, there is immediate
success. Step into anybody’s house – there is peace and good news. Sign a
letter, it is a perfect success, a quick success. And be amidst any kind of
people, they can never misunderstand you. All that you do will prosper, will
live longer. God begins to dwell in your action, in your eyes, in your tongue,
in your heart. You can do nothing which can harm either God’s work or the
welfare of people.
So try,
every minute struggle hard to produce the best from your heart. Nobody is bad in
the world, if there is something wrong in the kitchen, or in the office, or in
the street, or in the shop where you have gone to buy something – the fault is
entirely yours, it is a pure reward of something false in yourself.
The
responsibility is entirely on ourselves. Even if all the people in the world
were saints and good, it is of no use to you. Whether people who are external to
you are good or bad is of no consequence, what is of consequence is what is
happening in yourself, what you are.
You
Be Good First
The
special steps for rapid evolution are:
1.
Don’t expect anyone around you to be good, go on being good yourself
intensively. If you expect the other person to be good, there will be a constant
battle between you both, neither the other person can be good nor you can be
good; and your own darker forces are getting stronger and stronger because of
this constant battle with the other person; and a few days more, the life is
over, and you depart from this world with a bad heritage, the heavy burden of
having fought with another person, and trying to make him good. Never expect the
other persons to be saints, be yourself a saint.
2.
Another step: Never expect the other person to earn for you, – go on earning.
Never leave the activities of the Ashram upon the shoulders of somebody else.
Take up the activities of the Ashram upon your own shoulders, and execute them
intensively. This is the way to become a superhuman individual. This is the way
to obtain the Grace of God. This is the way to develop yourself more and more.
But if you depend upon somebody else for the conducting of the activities,
neither that person conducts them nor you conduct them, and both of you will
slip lower and lower.
So,
take all the responsibilities on yourself. The surest sign of a pure heart and
an angelic nature is that that person takes the responsibilities upon himself.
The
Way to Improve the World
Don’t
say there should be no wars in the world. Don’t go about shouting that there
should be no wars, all your life will be wasted only in this shouting. See
instantly that there is no war in your own heart or mind, and then you can be
sure in the external world there will be less wars.
Billions of people in the world are every day saying there should be no war, and
therefore there are more wars in the world, – three wars in a day, in three
different corners of the world. That is not the way to end the war. The war in
the heart of every human individual should come to a stop before the wars
externally are stopped.
So see
that there is no war in your own mind and heart and soul. The greatest war is
right in your heart: sometimes you say yes, sometimes you say no, sometimes you
doubt, sometimes you believe; sometimes you love the person, sometimes you hate
the person; sometimes you say there is God, sometimes you say there is no God;
sometimes love arises in you, sometimes passion arises in you. There is endless
chaos. First make order here in the heart. Don’t expect anyone around you to be
good or to be working. Go on yourself being active to your utmost goodness. Push
on your character to the utmost goodness. Go on yourself doing all the works.
Take the responsibility of feeding others and not being fed by others. Take the
responsibility of giving happiness and peace to others, and not expecting peace
and happiness from others.
These
are the first steps of evolution. These are the first steps in the divine
conduct and the divine life. Bear in mind these steps and practice them so that
your life blooms in greatness.
The
Saint
Who is
a saint? A saint is one who is humbler than a blade of grass. If somebody kicks
him, he responds in this manner: “Did your leg pain? Can I do something for
you?” His is a heart in which there is no venom of any kind. It is always clean,
always luminous. There is no memory of any experience. It is emptied of that
negative force ego which is the cause of so much of disorder in the inner being.
A saint
is one whose heart is constant sunshine. The outer sun shines only for twelve
hours, and sometimes it does not shine when it is blocked by the clouds, whereas
the saint shines all through the 24 hours, and there are no clouds interfering
with his sunshine. He is a person who is constantly uplifting the earth. He has
unusual patience, unusual faith, unusual perseverance, and a completely and
unconditionally forgiving nature. It is a nature made up of peace and light.
Now try
with all your strength of heart and soul to become such a saint.
Do not
keep upon yourself any kind of Karma by a conduct which is contrary to the
conduct of a saint. Constantly exalt the whole being, however difficult it may
be – the most difficult thing, if you do it, you are great. The more difficult
it is the greater you are.
