Bakola is a small village completely embedded in
the remote high hills of the Himalayas. It is
surrounded by terrace fields and hills.
There is a Durga-Devi Mandir 1½ km from the
School. Close to the School, in the Narasimha
Mandir, Lord Narasimha, an Avatara of Lord
Vishnu, who is in a half-man-half-lion form, is
worshipped. According to scriptures, Lord
Narasimha manifests six attributes of God –
strength, wealth, renunciation, splendour,
energy and wisdom.
Omkarananda Saraswati Shishu Mandir, Bakola, is
located in the village and has a beautiful
brown-stone building that is well maintained and
clean. The view from the School is spectacular
and the famous snow-capped Himalayan peak “Chaukhamba”
can be seen from here. The School children from
Nursery to Classes V are coming from within the
radius of 1 km. Besides the formal core
curriculum, they also learn Garhwali and Hindi
songs, folk dances and participate in sports
every morning.
