Rishikesh - A World of its Own

Rishikesh is one of the most tranquil places situated at the foothills of the Himalayas in the northern part of India in the state of Uttaranchal. It is scenically surrounded by hills and bisected by the perennial and the healing "Ganges" which is lovingly termed in India as "Ganga Mayi" - meaning "Mother Ganga". Rishikesh is often claimed as the 'Yoga Capital of the World' and is also the 'Ayurvedic Valley of the World' owing to its easy reach of the richest, purest and rarest medicinal herbs and shrubs in the holy region of Himalayas.

Rishikesh has long been a spiritual centre where - from time immemorial - many great sages and saints meditated and attained enlightenment. It is said that the Great Raibhya Rishi did severe penance to please God, who appeared as "Hrishikesh", hence the name Rishikesh.

Millions of Hindus come here every year to have a dip in the holy Ganga. Rishikesh is also the starting point to the Himalayan pilgrimage centres such as Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamnotri.

Today Rishikesh is the haven for Yoga seekers from all over the globe and reigns supreme for renunciation, meditation, penance and salvation and is the supreme gateway for developing spiritual consciousness, which is easier to attain owing to the powerful spiritual vibrations that surround this place.
