"The first quarter is Vaishvanara (Leader of all beings) whose sphere (of action) is the waking state, whose consciousness relates to objects external, who is possessed of seven limbs and nineteen mouths, and who enjoys gross objects. The second quarter is Taijasa (Luminous) whose sphere (of action) is the dream state, whose consciousness relates to objects internal, who is possessed of seven limbs and nineteen mouths, and who enjoys subtle objects."
