25th December 2009: Omkarananda Jayanti Celebration On 25th December 2009 the Omkarananda Jayanti Function took place in Omkarananda Vidya Bhawan, Omkarananda Nagar, Muni-ki-reti. Sundarkand Path started at 8 o'clock in the morning with all the Priests of Omkarananda-Kamakshi-Devi Mandir and the musicians of Shri Gopalacharyaji.

Since a severe cold wave had started, a nice hot tomato soup was served to each and every one before the start of the cultural function.

At 11 o'clock sharp Shri Swami Vishveshwaranandaji, President of Omkarananda Ashram, welcomed all the guests. On request of Swamiji, special garlands were offered by Shri Randheer Rane, the son of a prominent Police Commissioner of Mumbai and a devotee of Omkarananda Ashram, to Shri M.M. Tayal, Emeritius of Doon Citizens Council Dehradun and his wife, to Dr. Rekha Aggarwala, Director of OIMT, Col. D.L. Sachdeva, Principal of Omkarananda Saraswati Nilayam Inter-College, Mr. Varshney, Principal of Sheetal College of Biomedical Sciences, Shri Gopalacharyaji and Swami Pragyananda of Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas.

Shri Swami Vishveshwaranandaji, who himself guided through the function in a charming, lively and joyous way, requested Col. Sach­deva and Mr. Varshney to light the deepas for Gurudev Paramahamsa Omkarananda Saraswati.

Kumari Somashekhari, dressed in a very nice, glittering Lahanga (traditional dance dress) started with a Shiva Vandana dance, followed by a Yoga demonstration by Acharya Shri Lakshminarayan Joshi and students. It was a very impressive demonstration. Then Kumari Parineeta read out great words of Divine Wisdom, written by H.D. Shri Swami Omkarananda, followed by a Devi Dance by Kumari Somashekhari, which found tremendous appreciation in the public.

After the dance the audience had the opportunity to hear a recorded speech of Gurudev Paramahamsa Omkarananda Saraswati.

Finally a surprise took place, when Mr. Varshney released a booklet, titled "Indian Classical Dance - One way to God-Experience (The Yoga of Dance)" written by Kumari Somashekhari. Mr. Varshney, in an elaborate speech, highlighted the personality of Kumari Somashekhari, her dedication to her Guru Shri Swami Omkarananda, her qualities in Indian Classical Dance and her loving nature, which she has towards one and all.
Shri Swami Vishveshwaranandaji gave his Vote of Thanks, in which he also spoke about the life of Paramahamsa Omkarananda Saraswati and His great activities.

In the end Suresh Shastriji, the Chief Priest, with his team of Omkarananda Ashram Priests, performed Omkarananda Arati and Pushpanjali. Thereafter everybody was invited to a wonderful Bhandara.

It was a very rare function; people were delighted by the wonderful items, which were demonstrated to honour Paramahamsa Omkarananda Saraswati on this 25th December 2009.
