It was with great joy and jubilation in the local area, when Miss Suman Rawat, an alumna of Omkarananda Saraswati Nilayam Inter-College (OSN), Muni-ki-reti, Rishikesh, came out with flying colours in Indian Civil Services Competition this year. People all around talked about her with wonder and pride and said: "She has done her family proud. She has done the OSN school proud and this region too. OMKARANANDA SARASWATI NILAYAM is doing a wonderful job in imparting excellence and quality education. Let us felicitate her and also the school authorities, its Principal, Col (Retd) D.L. Sachdeva, the teachers and the President, Shri Swami Vishveshwaranandaji Maharaj."

The function was presided over by Mrs. Kainthura and the Guests of Honour were Shri Swami Vishveshwaranandaji Maharaj and Principal, Col (Retd) D.L. Sachdeva. The other distinguished guests were Manoj Dwivedi, Ex-Chairman, Nagar Panchayat, Muni-ki-reti, and Shri Ramesh Uniyal.

Swamiji blessed Suman saying that she has brought name and fame to all of us. The Principal expressed his happiness and pride and gave several examples of the meritorious students of Omkarananda Saraswati Nilayam, like Suman, whom he nurtured and brought up as a gardener in the garden of flowers. Shri Manoj Dwivedi honoured the Principal calling him the real hero of the ceremony and paid rich tribute to Shri Swami Omkarananda Maharaj, the Founder of the School and Shri Swami Vishveshwaranandaji Maharaj for doing such marvellous service in the field of education of the masses of this region and whole Garhwal.

Miss Suman Rawat thanked every one present at the function and requested the local leaders never to make the school a field of political activities. She said, that the school should remain a Gurukul where educational transactions between the students and teachers only take place, as it used to be up to now.
